Ahmed Tawfiq, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, revealed on Thursday, May 28, 2020, that the organization of Zakat in Morocco is decided by the Commander of the Faithful, King Mohammed VI.

This came within the study of the subject of measures taken by the Ministry to immunize and fortify the various activities that it oversees, especially those related to supporting and strengthening the religious framing of citizens in the shadow of the Corona pandemic, at the Foreign, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccans Residing Abroad Committee of Representatives.

Al-Tawfiq said before the representatives of the nation: "The zakat order stipulates that it should be performed like prayer, because the Muslim is mandated and required by it," stating that "the organization of zakat will be decided by the Commander of the Faithful at the time he sees it and how he sees it."

Al-Tawfiq added: "A while ago, the Commander of the Faithful, King Mohamed VI, instructed us to prepare all documents related to Zakat and a guide for it, which are documents that exist."

The government official added: "The question may arise, why should it be organized even though it is an individual matter? But the Commander of the Faithful, King Mohammed VI, will decide it in the manner appropriate to Islamic jurisprudence and diligence."

Regarding the Hajj and what is being raised around it during the season coinciding with the Corona pandemic, Al-Tawfik said: "We have no official signal or notification from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj about what will happen," revealing that "what we have is a reporter calling for a wait-in to sign contracts."

In this regard, the minister explained, "We have not yet signed contracts for housing, transportation and subsistence," noting that "Hajj is organized with a number of procedures that require time, and in the coming days it will become clear because it is related to the Saudi authorities."

Regarding the unofficial opinions issued by a number of those who are considered proponents, Al-Tawfiq said, “This is the era of freedom of expression, but the believer is required by the ruling of the Book and the Sunnah to consume the right goods more than he consumes for his livelihood.” He added: “Therefore, the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, warned us from the ignorant and invalid. The Gauls, that is the extremists. "

The Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs stressed that "if we decide to follow up on everything that is raised daily against the religious issue and the Ministry of Awqaf, we will be in the courts every day, and therefore we count on believers," stressing "the necessity of awareness, and that we cooperate on this issue because the epidemic is multiple, especially that facing Spirit".
